The comic book from Chaos comes to life in this animated film. The film opens with Lady Death leading an army of demons and zombies in battle against the army of Lucifer. Before the battle, we are taken back to Sweden where young men are being forced to fight in a holy war in which their very souls are at risk. Hope is the general’s daughter and is very much in love with Niccolo who is killed in the war.

One night the village priest leads the town’s people to kill Hope’s father, who is really the powerful Lucifer. He leaves his own daughter to the mercy of the town who sentences her to be burned at the stake. While in jail waiting for her death, one of her father’s demon jesters named Pagan offers the girl eternal life if she will forgive her father and live by his side in hell. Initially rejecting the offer, Hope accepts on the stake and is sentenced to hell! While in hell Hope is tortured and beaten for her father’s amusement and is cast out when she doesn’t bend to her father’s will. Outside, Hope runs into Cremator and two stray wolves that join together to train her into becoming Lady Death! From here Lady Death and her chosen warriors go to war with Lucifer and his army of demons. After one of the bloodiest fights between Father and Daughter, Lady Death becomes the only ruler of hell.

This is a film filled with enough blood and gore to keep horror fans happy and enough likeness to the comic to keep die hard readers happy. The voice actors all do a great job at their characters. The animation itself is amazing. Well made indeed.

The extras on this DVD are great, with a behind the scenes look at the making of the film as well as other trailers from this company. The menus are great with nice animated backgrounds that feel and look just like the film. The cover art also stands out with a nice dark look and feel. Overall, a great package.

Anime fans should love this great film, as should comic book and horror fans. This film is really worth a buy.
